New York State Route 397 is a short state highway in New York, running from the village of Altamont to the hamlet of Dunnsville, in Albany County.

NY 397 begins at a four-way intersection, where NY 146 arrives from the south and exits to the east. CR 253 exits west; NY 397 exits north as Western Avenue.

NY 397 is a two-lane highway its entire length.
