[edit] Route description
NY 390 parallels the west side of Rochester, passing through the heavily industrial neighborhoods of western Rochester and eastern Greece. Between exits 22 and 24, the mammoth complex known locally as Kodak Park, owned by Eastman Kodak, follows the highway along its east side.
North of exit 24, NY 390 runs through primarily residential neighborhoods as it progresses toward the Lake Ontario State Parkway.
As a whole, NY 390 maintains a north-northeast alignment for its entire length.
Between I-490 and NY 104, NY 390 makes up part of the Rochester Outer Loop's northwest quadrant.

[edit] History
Route 390 between I-490 and New York State Route 104 was once signed as New York State Route 47, the Rochester Outer Loop, along with I-390 to Interstate 590, all of I-590, and New York State Route 590 to Route 104. The northern section of Route 390 was completed in the 1980s.
Prior to becoming an extension to I-390, NY 390 was the designation given to part of what is now New York State Route 318 in Seneca County.
