[edit] Route description
[edit] Monroe County
Upon separating from NY 96 in Pittsford directly in front of Saint John Fisher College, NY 31F becomes Fairport Road. The road name remains the same for 3.4 miles to the east as NY 31F passes to the south of East Rochester and enters Perinton before crossing the Erie Canal in Perinton and entering Fairport, where NY 31F becomes West Church Street. After crossing NY 250 in the village of Fairport, NY 31F becomes East Church Street. Just outside of the village, NY 31F then cuts to the north along Turk Hill Road, crossing the Erie Canal and the CSX mainline on a large overpass before resuming its eastward path at an intersection with High Street in the northeast corner of the village, becoming Macedon Center Road in the process.
[edit] Wayne County
NY 31F retains the Macedon Center Road name until its intersection with NY 350 to the east of Macedon Center. NY 31F and NY 350 then begin on an unnamed duplex for 1.75 miles before reaching the eastern terminus of NY 31F and the southern terminus of NY 350 at NY 31 in Macedon.

[edit] History
NY 31F originally ran through the center of Fairport, turning north at NY 250 and sharing Main Street with NY 250 on a short duplex between Church Street and High Street. NY 31F then followed High Street to Turk Hill Road, where NY 31F continued east on its current alignment. NY 31F was realigned to its current alignment through Fairport along East Church Street and Turk Hill Road in 1982. High Street is now maintained by the village of Fairport.
[edit] Miscellanea
Following the reconstruction of I-490 between exits 25 (NY 31F) and 23 (NY 441) in the late 1990s, the reference markers on NY 31F from I-490 east to NY 153 were replaced with NY 253 reference markers, even though NY 253 had left the area 20 years before and, even then, NY 253 never had an alignment that carried it along Fairport Road (31F). These reference markers are still in place today.
