New York State Route 279 is a short state highway in western New York, USA. This highway is a north-south route entirely within Orleans County.

NY 279's northern end is at an intersection with New York State Route 18, south of Lakeside Beach State Park, near the shore of Lake Ontario. It proceeds southward through the Town of Carlton to Waterport Station and crosses the Oak Orchard River at Lake Alice. In the hamlet of Waterport, it turns eastward, then back to the south-southeast. Entering the Town of Gaines, NY 279 intersects New York State Route 104 (Ridge Road) at the hamlet of Gaines. Continuing southeast, the highway ends at New York State Route 98 (Oak Orchard Road) at Five Corners, just north of the Village of Albion.
