New York State Route 20C was a predominantly east-west running route in Ontario County that was decommissioned over a span of seven years from 1990 to 1997. At its greatest extent, NY 20C's western terminus was at NY 64 in East Bloomfield, a mere 50 yards north of where NY 64 joins US 20 and NY 5 for a three-mile triplex. Its eastern terminus up until its complete decommission in 1997 was at the aforementioned triplex in Holcomb two miles to the east of the western terminus. The former eastern terminus of NY 20C is now the southern terminus of NY 444.

[edit] Route description
Prior to 1990, NY 20C traveled along West Main Street east from NY 64 into the village of Holcomb where, along with County Road 3 and East Main Street, it formed the Four Corners of Holcomb. NY 20C then turned south onto County Road 3 before reaching its eastern terminus at US 20.
The route, a spur of US 20 created to serve the-then independent village of Holcomb, was one of four spur routes leading from US 20 created before 1930. As part of the 1930 renumbering of routes across New York State, New York State Route 20A and New York State Route 20B were absorbed by New York State Route 5 while New York State Route 20D became part of New York State Route 39.

[edit] History
[edit] The End of Route 20C
In 1990, NY 20C was truncated from NY 64 to the Four Corners, leaving only the County Road 3 portion designated. This move was apparently made in preparation for the designation of NY 444 along the length of County Road 3 from Victor to Bloomfield, which occurred concurrent to the total decommission of NY 20C on June 2, 1997.[3]
[edit] Today
The segment from NY 64 to the Four Corners is no longer maintained by the state (as a reference route was never assigned to this section) and is under the control of the town of Bloomfield. The segment from the Four Corners to US 20 is now NY 444.
