All decisions about the awards are organized and chosen by the hall of fame's board of directors.

The New York Business Hall Of Fame's Executive Director Ron Dresner often uses a quote from Winston Churchill about the role of business today, "Some regard private enterprise as if it were a predatory tiger to be shot. Others look upon it as a cow that they can milk. Only a handful see it for what it really is: the strong horse that pulls the whole cart.” - Winston Churchill.

According to Dresner, "the basic mission of the New York Business Hall Of Fame is to recognize outstanding companies and business leaders in the state and to promote education, economic development and progress. Through an increase in commerce and corporate activities, living standards and the quality of life for all residents can improve. We are reaching out and recognizing companies and business leaders throughout the entire state. From Brooklyn to Binghamton to Buffalo, the New York Business Hall Of Fame will showcase our state's numerous success stories as a celebration of private enterprise."

Covered already in the Rochester Business Journal and the Hudson Valley Business Journal, the organization has initiated a statewide business networking program and has planned the first ceremony for the induction into the New York Business Hall Of Fame in March 2007.
