New Wrestling Stars (NWS), based in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico, was launched in January 2005 by its current owner Dr. Cesar Vargas. The first shows took place in the southwest area of Puerto Rico.

NWS eventually added Ex - WWC and IWA workers like El Nene, Anarchy, Stefano, Shane “The Glamour Boy”, El Diamante, Noriega, Bison Smith, Huracan Castillo, El Faraon, Maniac, Jose Chaparro, Chicky Starr, El Profe, Barrabas, and Livewire to add to their local talents such as "Superstar" Ash Rubinsky, Lucky 7, Black Pain, Crazy Rudy, Bandido, Steve Zero, Spinal, Onix, William De La Vega and the gorgeous valet Yaritza. Plus the long-time IWA and WWC referee Heriberto Lopez and Ex - IWA announcer Hector Moyano is the ring announcer.

NWS crowned their first Tag Team Champions on January 8, 2006 in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico as the “The Bad Guys” Bandido & Crazy Rudy beat “The HP” Livewire & Ash in a Tournament Finals. The HP won the titles on March 6, 2006 San Sebastian, Puerto Rico beating Crazy Rudy & Bandido.
On March 25, 2006 in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico NWS crowned their first Cruiserweight Champion in a match where Hammett beat “The Original” Golden Boy. On the same night was also crowned the first NWS Heavyweight Champion when El Diamante pinned “The Pyromaniac” Tim Arson, were also El Diamante’s wife Sandra wrestled Tim Arson’s valet Yaritza in a kickboxing match after months of abuse that Sandra had from Yaritza. Hammett then left the company so it was on May 21, 2006 where William De La Vega won the Cruiserweight Championship in a Fatal-Four Way for the vacant title. Then Bolo “The Red Bulldog” won the Cruiserweight title from William De La Vega on August 5, 2006 in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico. Later El Diamante left the company so in April 30, 2006 in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico "The Pyromaniac" Tim Arson won the Heavyweight title against a cruiserweight named Richy Vallen.

They had a segment called “NWS Report” on WWC’s “Superestrellas de la Lucha Libre” until both companies WWC and NWS cancelled their agreement. Due to this the Heavyweight Champion at the time Tim Arson left the title vacant because of his contract with the WWC. So it was in August 5, 2006 where a mysterious man in mask named “Mr. GPR”, who was presumed to be Shane “The Glamour Boy”, won the Heavyweight Championship in a Rumble Ladder Match in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico; later was revealed to be non other than the former champion El Diamante.
NWS had a weekly TV show on Channel 22 (Liberty Cablevision) Saturdays at 11am ,also on WORA-TV channel 5 in Mayaguez ,PR every sunday at 2:30pm and on Channel 52 Video Max every Saturday and Sunday at 12pm called NWS “A Puro Fuego”. NWS had its last show on September 10 ,2006 and closed down soon after. Rumors state that NWS is planning to return in 2007.
