New South Wales Premier League
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The New South Wales Premier League (which, for sponsorship reasons, is known as the Vodafone Premier League) is the highest State level men's football (soccer) division in New South Wales, Australia. Nationally, it is one grade lower than the A-League. The competition is conducted by Soccer New South Wales, the State organising body.
The restructure for 2006 changed from being 12 teams to 10. Some criticisms have been made of the teams chosen to compete in the competition, one of which argues that the competition is too Sydney-centric (Wollongong is the only non-Sydney team). St George Saints and Bonnyrigg White Eagles legal action against Soccer NSW, however, was unsuccessful in gaining either club admission to the competition.
The 2006 grand final will be shown on Fox Sports, the first time that the final will be shown live on Australian television [1].
