The New Haven Eagles are a defunct professional ice hockey team that played in New Haven, Connecticut. The Eagles were one of five inaugural franchises to the Canadian American Hockey League, which later joined the American Hockey League (AHL). During this inaugural season, the Eagles finished in first place with a record of 18-14-0.[1] From 1946-1950 the franchise became known as the New Haven Ramlbers.[2] The 1949-50 season would be the team's last full season in the AHL where they finished with a record of 24-36-10 in forth place of the Eastern Division and out of the playoffs.[3]
The franchise would come back for the 1950-51 season reverting back to the name Eagles. However, the franchise was not successful on or off the ice folding in the middle of the season after only 28 games with a record of 5-23-0. [4]
- The franchise was replaced by: New Haven Tomahawks of the EHL (1951-52 season), New Haven Nutmegs of the EHL (1952-53 season), New Haven Blades of the EHL (1954-1972), New Haven Nighthawks (1972-1992), New Haven Senators (1992-93 season)
