Three highways in New Hampshire have the number 4: U.S. Highway 4, New Hampshire Route 4 and New Hampshire Route 4A. NH-4A is an alternate route to US-4, but NH-4 is not related to US-4, even though both highways pass through the city of Dover.
[edit] Route 4
New Hampshire Route 4 is a northeast-southwest road (posted as east-west) between Dover and Rollinsford. It is not the same road as nearby US-4. The southern terminus is in Dover at the junction with NH-155. (For a few blocks in downtown Dover, NH-108 and NH-4 are codesignated.) The northern terminus is in Rollinsford at the Maine state line on the Salmon Falls River, where the road becomes State Route 4. Total length is approximately 3.8 miles (6.1 km).
