The western terminus of Route 47 is in Bennington at the junction with US-202. The eastern terminus is in Francestown at the junction with NH-136. Total length of Route 47 is approximately 7.3 miles (11.8 km).
In Bennington NH-47 is locally named Pierce Road—likely named after President Franklin Pierce, who was a New Hampshire native. In Francestown the highway follows part of the old 2nd New Hampshire Turnpike and is so named.
