Neville Staples

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Neville Staple(s) (born 11 April 1956, in Christiana, Jamaica) was a roadie-turned-singer for the legendary second-wave ska band The Specials. His deep baritone voice often added the punch phrases and spoken "skats" to counterpoint the melodies. Neville's exciting on-stage antics, combined with his dread locked hair, often dominated their live shows.

When The Specials first split up he, along with Terry Hall and Lynval Golding, formed Fun Boy Three. Staple now does solo work and lives in the USA. In the late 1990s, Neville joined Ranking Roger from The Beat to form Special Beat, a revival group playing hits from both former two-tone bands. He was also featured on the song "Explosive" by the third-wave ska band The Planet Smashers

Now you can find Neville Staples touring the UK with a new backing band. He has a daughter Sheena Staples who currently lives in the U.S. working on a solo album, And a son Darren Simms who is the lead singer in a U.S. reggae rock band named "DreadStarr".
