Nevada State Route 650
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nevada State Route 650 runs from begin state construction north to U.S. 395 North-South Freeway north of Reno; east half of Reno-Sparks Belt Route. This belt route, known as McCarran Boulevard, includes Nevada State Routes 650 and Nevada State Routes 651 plus some locally maintained segments. This 23-mile loop around Reno-Sparks provides some of the best views of the city (especially along the northeast quadrant). In addition, one can see all the elements of the Reno landscape along this road, parts of which are four-lane, divided highway. This includes desert, new subdivisions, vacant land designated for future subdivisions (such as Caughlin Ranch), industrial property, warehouses, truck stops, and mountain foothills. The last section of McCarran Boulevard to open was near Mayberry Street in 1990.
A new outer ring road has been proposed just north of Nevada Routes 650/651 (McCarran Boulevard). The outer ring road would stretch east from U.S. 395 at least to Sparks Boulevard and possibly to Vista Boulevard, connecting either at Disc Drive or over utility right-of-way near where Satellite Drive meets Vista Boulevard. The outer ring road would have intersections with U.S. 395 near the Parr Boulevard off-ramp, a proposed Sutro Street or North McCarran Boulevard interchange, and with Sun Valley Boulevard, Pyramid Way, Sparks Boulevard and possibly Vista Boulevard, if it's extended that far east.
Route 650 is currently known as McCarran Boulevard.
