Nevada State Route 535 (Elko Boulevard; Idaho Street) From the West Elko Interchange 298 to East Elko Interchange 303; former Nevada SR 1. Elko, which is the Elko County seat, is a bustling regional hub. The nearest city, Twin Falls, Idaho, is 173 miles north of Elko. Other cities -- Salt Lake City, Reno-Sparks, and Las Vegas -- are much further away. It was one of a handful of towns able to convince the railroad to relocate its mainline. The railroad was moved from between Commercial and Railroad Streets to near the Humboldt River. [1]
