Nevada's 2nd congressional district

The 2nd Congressional District of Nevada is a congressional district occupying all of Nevada outside of Clark County, and some parts of Clark County. The largest city in the district is Reno, and the district is drawn to heavily favor Republicans. The district was created after the 1980 census, and has since been held exclusively by Republicans.

  • Jill Derby (Democrat) lost to Republican Dean Heller, the former Nevada Secretary of State in an election 45% to 50%. In the August 15 primary, Heller narrowly defeated Assemblywoman Sharron Angle, with former Assemblywoman Dawn Gibbons, the wife of Jim Gibbons, running 3rd. Heller received 24,781 votes, Angle 24,353, and Gibbons 17,328. [1]
