Neurotically Yours
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Neurotically Yours is a flash cartoon series created by iLL WiLL PreSS (the online pseudonym of Jonathan Ian Mathers, and the name of his online company) about a squirrel named Foamy, who is the pet of a goth girl named Germaine (voiced by Dawn Bennett). The cartoons are mainly located on the ill WiLL PreSS website, in addition to numerous external websites, such as Friends of Foamy.com and NewGrounds.com.
A new episode of Neurotically Yours is posted approximately every two weeks on Thursdays. To date, there are over 100 official episodes of Foamy and his shenanigans. There are also a number of fan-produced episodes circulated among various fansites on the Internet, along with 3 DVDs with behind the scenes footage

[edit] History
One review has described the comic as being a mix of "Tim Burton, Ren Höek (Ren & Stimpy), Jhonen Vasquez, early Simpsons and a heaping dose of misanthropy.[1]
The cartoon was originally hosted on "www.4yrecords.com". It was later taken down and everything moved to the show's current homepage, "www.illwillpress.com." The original strips are no longer available, except for the very few early "Foamy's rants" from the 4y Records Archive.
The first cartoon on the Internet was "Distractions," followed by "Pen of Doom", uploaded to Newgrounds in December 2002 [2]. It was followed by "Squirrel Pulpy Fiction Thingy," (a controversial and very violent game; its title appears to take on the high levels of violence in Quentin Tarantino films) in January 2003 [3]. These two have been later removed, with the explanation on Squirrel Pulpy Fiction Thingy that "I got bored with it and I'm sure it's warped enough minds ^_^."
The only one of these "un-numbered originals" that remains on the popular site is a short based on a skit from the comic, named "The Joyful Suicides Of Reese Witherly," which has been on Newgrounds since March 2004 [4].
Other "un-numbered originals" are at the Friends of Foamy fansite, "Maid of Horror" (2003) . "Innuendo Stare Down" (dating also from 2003) is a clip of Germaine with a lollipop. These originals are characterized by poor animation and audio quality in comparison with later episodes.
There is also the unofficial 'iLLegal Immigrant Special', which was submitted to Newgrounds on 29 March and was blammed on 2 April[5].
To date, there are 100+ official episodes of Foamy. There are also a number of fan-produced episodes circulated among various fansites on the Internet.[citation needed]
[edit] Characters
- Foamy - An outspoken, highly opinionated squirrel whose rants and often expletive-ridden protests include various topics. Foamy is the leader of his own cult, known, appropriately enough, as the "Foamy Card Cult". Also has an ambiguous power called "squirrely wrath", which, among other things, allows him to throw acorns with such precision and force as to violently decapitate a human. Foamy occasionally answers fan mail, his replies always being signed "Your Lord and Master, Foamy".
- Germaine - Foamy's main human friend and "owner." She is depicted as a Wiccan and thinks that no one appreciates her creativity. Some say she has spooky powers. When the author decides to reward (or draw) viewers with a little fan-service, Germaine is always the target. She also freaks out whenever she gains some weight until she refers to all her clothes (more specifically bras) as "Man's torturous garments of oppression." Recently her character design was changed to appear more realistic, as creator Jonathan Mathers was, among other things, getting tired of having her compared to Tim Burton and/or Jhonen Vasquez characters. She is a misanthropic girl with purple hair, normally wearing goth clothing, and has a habit of belching out loud randomly. The actress for her voice is Dawn Bennett.
- Pilz-E - Another squirrel and one of Foamy's friends. He wears big glasses, suffers from a genetic disability known as "eye stigmata" (which is revealed in the episode of the same name), and is always on some sort of medication to treat his ailments: depression, Attention Deficit Disorder, stopping his feet from turning blue, death (though he claims to have pills to cure the death), etc. Pilz-E speaks extremely quickly, almost to the point of gibberish. Some believe he is addicted to coffee (revealed in episode 65, "So I Said to My Doctor"). He is also believed to be based at least partially on "Woody Allen on Crack" (revealed in episode 27, "Nuts to You"). Pilz-E seems to be gifted in the art of voodoo, which he calls voodeedoo. revealed in episode 86 with the same name.
- Begley - A squirrel with a purple mohawk who speaks with an English accent. He is also a friend of Foamy's. Begley was once in prison for 18 months for calling the Queen of England a wanker.
- The Hatta - A black squirrel named Leroy who chooses to go by the name "Hatta" or "The Hatta," and rants on things as Foamy does. He wears a giant top hat and has an afro-like tail with an afro pick, and has a double standard for racist remarks. "Everybody's a racist. Except for me of course, 'cause I'm black." An obvious parody of the Mad Hatter, a fictional character from Alice in Wonderland.
- The Pizza Delivery Boy - A pizza delivery boy who is often seen stalking Germaine. The pizza delivery boy is never referred to by name in the series. He is known to have an incredibly strong hate of Foamy, for curing Germaine of her magic breast enlargement. He apparently started a website containing nude photos of Germaine (http://www.germainenude.com, revealed in episode 77, "Open Mic Night 2").
- Franklin - A human intended to represent corporate greed and propaganda, Franklin works at the Star-Schmucks coffee-house establishment, and is openly gay.
- Mammed Udi - Mammed is an Indian who works for the Smell Tech Computer Company (a parody of Dell) as tech support. He constantly repeats himself, asks ridiculous questions ("Do you like the ice cream?") and talks in riddles. One can hardly blame his eccentricities, though; apparently, Smell's 24-7, 365-days-a-year tech support team consists entirely of him. When Foamy asks him about this, Mammed replies, "I thought they were out of their minds too... but apparently I am VERY versatile." If he even stops working for only one second he gets shocked by a monkey with a taser (who he calls a 'shocky monkey').
[edit] Foamy's Rants
A part of Foamy's episodes revolve around rants. The premises of his rants to date:
- People he hates, like people who ask for advice and don't take it or people who stalk their ex-girlfriends. [6]
- People blaming others for their problems, like people suing fast food restaurants for being fat.
- People who take children who cry and scream to restaurants.
- People who don't speak the language of the country they're in. [7]
- How he hates reality shows because they rarely resemble reality. [8]
- Diet menus at fast food restaurants.
- The Atkins Diet, which he calls the "Fat-kins diet."
- The word "riveting" when used by movie critics. [9]
