Nettlefold Studios
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nettlefold Studios were located in what is now Hepworth Way, Walton-on-Thames. Cecil Hepworth began production there in 1899, but the name derives from the subsequent owner, Archibald Nettlefold, who rebuilt the studios on the original site. The decline of the British film industry brought about closure in 1961.
Early Michael Powell films, notably Hotel Splendide, were produced at the studios as were 143 episodes of the television series The Adventures of Robin Hood (1955 - 59).
