Nesquehoning is a borough in Carbon County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 3,288 at the 2000 census.

Nesquehoning is located at 40°52′5″N, 75°49′27″W (40.868178, -75.824176)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 55.9 km² (21.6 mi²). 54.8 km² (21.2 mi²) of it is land and 1.1 km² (0.4 mi²) of it (1.90%) is water. Nesquehoning is located 3 miles west of Jim Thorpe and 5 miles northeast of Lansford. Nesquehoning's elevation is at 900 feet above sea level.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 3,288 people, 1,355 households, and 864 families residing in the borough. The population density was 60.0/km² (155.4/mi²). There were 1,599 housing units at an average density of 29.2/km² (75.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough was 97.69% White, 0.64% African American, 0.24% Native American, 0.43% Asian, 0.30% from other races, and 0.70% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.52% of the population.

There were 1,355 households out of which 25.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.9% were married couples living together, 10.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 36.2% were non-families. 32.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.30 and the average family size was 2.89.

In the borough the population was spread out with 18.8% under the age of 18, 8.3% from 18 to 24, 28.7% from 25 to 44, 23.0% from 45 to 64, and 21.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 98.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.3 males.

The median income for a household in the borough was $35,902, and the median income for a family was $41,855. Males had a median income of $30,417 versus $19,291 for females. The per capita income for the borough was $16,820. About 2.0% of families and 9.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 3.0% of those under age 18 and 23.4% of those age 65 or over.
