[edit] Post-Gryps Conflict

After the end of the Gryps War the Earth Federation was extremely weakened because not only the Titans but also a great part of its fleet was wiped out in the last battle of the Gryps 2 colony laser. The AEUG also lost a majority of its fleet and, apparently, only the Argama was still able to fight. Only the Axis fleet was still intact because it retreated from the battle to prepare for the invasion of earth. Four months after the last battle of the Gryps War on February 29, Axis renamed itself Neo-Zeon and started the First Neo-Zeon War.

[edit] The First Neo-Zeon War

Because not only the Earth Federation but also the AEUG was greatly weakened, the Neo-Zeon fleet sent an invasion troop which should take control of Earth. With the help of remaining Principality of Zeon members on Earth the Neo-Zeon troops were easily able to secure several parts on Earth with nearly no resistance of the EF. Also Haman Karn sent troops to each colony in space knowing that no one would be able to stop her. However the remnants of the AEUG tried to stop her via the crew of the Argama with the help of Judau, the new Zeta pilot, and his friends. On August 8 Haman's forces conquered the EF Assembly at Dakar but when the AEUG/Karaba attacked they had to retreat.

On October 31 the Neo-Zeon army dropped a colony on Dublin, Ireland, so the EF Government agreed to give Side 3 to Neo-Zeon.

[edit] Neo-Zeon Civil War

On December 25, UC0088, Glemi Toto declared the foundation of his own Neo-Zeon section which started a civil war against Haman's section. His headquarter was the asteroid Mauser which they used to attack Side 3 Core Three. The AEUG decided the Glemi was their enemy so they entered Core Three and eventually were able to kill Glemi. Afterwards Mauser rammed Core Three, destroying both Haman's and Glemi's fleet. Finally Haman was also killed in a battle with Judau Ashta and his ZZ Gundam. The first Neo-Zeon War finally ended on January 17, UC 0089.

[edit] Aftermath

With the deaths of Haman Karn and Glemi Toto, Neo-Zeon had no leader. Also a great part of its fleet was wiped out during the civil war. However a few years later, Char Aznable returned and took control of the remaining Neo-Zeon army, which led to the second and last Neo-Zeon Movement.

[edit] Second Neo-Zeon Movement

[edit] Introduction

To deal with anti-Federation movements the Earth Federation created the Londo Bell Task Force, whose mission is the same as the Titans. Due mostly to the fact that the members of Londo Bell are former members of the AEUG, operations are carried out in a far more humane ways; however, Londo Bell is greatly understaffed.

In the end of UC0092, the presumed dead Char Aznable returned and became the leader of the Neo-Zeon forces. As the son of Zeon Zum Deikun, Aznable takes it upon himself to move all humans to Space so that the Earth might become a natural sancturary; however, the means by which he attempts this end are far more radical, planning to drop asteroids on Earth in order to start a nuclear winter. Aznable’s forces are successful in gaining favor in colony of Sweetwater from which, on 27 February UC0093, they declare war against Earth. In order to stop Aznable, the Earth Federation increases Londo Bell's size and prominent veterans from the former wars, such as Bright Noa and Aznable’s old archrival Amuro Ray, are added. Thus the Second Neo-Zeon War began.

[edit] The Second Neo-Zeon War

The first major battle of the Second Neo-Zeon War takes place when Char tries to drop the asteroid Fifth Luna on the Federation’s headquarter in Lhasa, Tibet. Although Londo Bell interferes they fail to stop the operation and Lhasa is completely destroyed. Afterwards Char retreats to their base at Sweetwater while Amuro Ray uses the incomplete RX-93 Nu Gundam to repel an attack of Neo Zeon forces against the Londo Bell flagship Ra Cailum.

On March 6 the Earth Federation holds a secret meeting with Neo Zeon at the colony Londenion at Side 1 at which Char himself participates. He agrees to stop the attacks and surrender his fleet if the Federation gives him Axis and the representatives of the Federation agree. Later Char and Amuro have a short encounter on the landscape of the colony where the 13 year old Quess Paraya allies herself with Char and helps him to escape.

A few days later Char sends a dummy fleet to Luna II while his forces try to capture Axis. They are successful but Londo Bell uses nuclear missiles against the asteroid which, however, are all destroyed by a cyber-Newtype named Gyunei Guss. Afterwards Londo Bell plans to place explosives inside Axis to break it apart and thus deflect it from Earth.

When the operation starts Amuro and Char, who pilots the MSN-04 Sazabi, have a battle at Axis. Londo Bell is successful with planting explosions inside Axis but only a part of the asteroid is deflected. Amuro, who in the meantime has defeated the Sazabi and taken the Char's evacuation pod with him, tries to stop the falling asteroid with his Nu Gundam. Later the Federation mobile suits and finally even the Neo Zeon troops help him. Axis is finally pushed away from Earth when a strange reaction inside the psycommu by the psycoframe creates enough power to stop the asteroid and push away the Neo Zeon and Federation troops with the overflowing psychic energy.

[edit] Aftermath

With the supposed death of Char Aznable, the last great leader of Zeon, the long conflict between the Earth Federation and the Republic/Principality of Zeon finally ends.

In UC 0100 the Republic of Zeon gives up its autonomy and again joins the Federation. Because of this the Federation Forces declare the eradication of all conflict.
