Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! If you want to learn more about the contribution process, definitely check out the tutorial. It's a really simple and easy explanation of all the basics.

TIPS:

Enjoy your stay and feel free to reply to this welcome message on my talk page. - user:defunkt

Hi Neil. Thanks for your edits to southsea ...Rob Nicholsr 21:01, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Hi Neil. Please could you add a statement to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:HursleySnow.jpg indicating its copyright status. as described in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Upload . Without this it may get removed. I have seen this happen. Nicholsr 18:36, 27 July 2005 (UTC)

Neil, The above image has now been tagged for deletion. Please can you update the copyright status. Nicholsr 08:07, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Freeheat Promo Shot.jpg

Warning sign
This image may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Freeheat Promo Shot.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.Rossrs 13:33, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

Hello ! About the Image:SCSICDB25.JPG that describes the "Read Capacity" SCSI command, i believe the LBA field is 4 bytes wide rather than 2. This is more consistent with the "returned LBA" field in the response, and with the standard length of SCSI commands that is 6, 10, 12 or 16 bytes long, but never 8 as the image shows. Please tell me (here[1]) if i'm wrong. Thanks ! Loïc

[edit] Image:WestCoastway.JPG listed for deletion

An image or media file that you uploaded, Image:WestCoastway.JPG, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 07:52, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
Thank you very much for replacing this with a PNG version. It looks much nicer and has a smaller file size, too.
I changed the {{isd}} tag you placed on the Image:WestCoastway.JPG page to an {{ifd}} tag, since unfortunately the requirements for {{isd}} require that the two images be in the same format. So I'm following the steps at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion, which is the long way around. (This is step three.) —Bkell (talk) 07:52, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thinking of you my friend

Not sure if you'll see this but if you do, know that you've never been far from our thoughts over the last few months. Nicholsr 00:16, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Images listed for deletion

I've written Neilm's SCSI CDB diagrams (listed here) out as wikitables, and listed the JPEG images for deletion. The benefits are that the articles are now searchable, modifiable, translatable, smaller in size, consistent in style, and they lack the JPEG compression artifacts. –Mysid(t) 10:45, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
