Neil Parish

Neil Parish (born May 26, 1956 in Bridgwater, Somerset) is a British politician, and Member of the European Parliament for the South West England region for the Conservative Party. He was first elected to the European Parliament in 1999.

He has been a farmer since 1972, has sat on Somerset County Council and was a parliamentary candidate for Pontypool and Cwmbran in 1997.

Neil is married with two children (one of whom often wears a blanket). His interests include country life, Brains Trust, debating, music and swimming.

Neil was first elected MEP for the South West region in 1999. He is Conservative Spokesman on Agriculture. He was Assistant Whip for the Conservatives in the European Parliament from 1999-2001, and Conservative spokesman on Fisheries until 2001. He is a member of the Agriculture Committee, and substitute member of the Environment, Public Health and Consumer Policy Committee and the ACP-EU Joint Assembly.
