Neil Black

Neil Black is an internationally known oboist and a professor at London's Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Starting on the oboe at age 11, Black did not initially consider music as a career. He attended Oxford University and earned a degree in History. Three years after finishing at Oxford, he became principal oboist for the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Later in his career, he was the principal oboist for the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields and the English Chamber Orchestra, with which he toured the world. Black has also seen success as a soloist. Along with his professorship, he is currently the musical director of the Kirckman Concert Society. He is a recipient of the O.B.E..
