Nederlands Dagblad

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Nederlands Dagblad (The Netherlands Daily) is a Dutch newspaper, available throughout the country, with a growing daily circulation of about 35,000 issues in 2004. In 2000, the circulation was 32,000 issues.

It was founded in 1944 as a resistance paper called Reformatie-stemmen ("Reformatory Voices"). After the war it was renamed Gereformeerd gezinsblad ("Reformed Family Paper"). In 1959 it became a dialy. and it obtained its current name in 1967. For many years it had a liaison with the Gereformeerd Politiek Verbond, a former Dutch political party. In recent years, it has offered a broader perspective on contemporary issues, from a Christian standpoint. Interestingly, the largest group amongst readers switching to the Nederlands Dagblad comprises non-Christians looking for an alternative view from that of the mainstream Dutch press.[citation needed]
