Navy Hall

Navy Hall is a wooden structure that served as Ontario's first provincial Parliament in 1792–1794 in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Ontario, Canada. The building is located on Ricardo Street the shores of the Niagara River with a view of Fort Niagara.
The first parliament in Upper Canada met in a tent in 1792 near this site. The first session to sit in Navy Hall was on September 17, 1792.
The single floor structure is located at Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario or then called Newark, Upper Canada was built at naval barracks in 1765 by Royal Naval Commanders. When John Graves Simcoe decided to move the capital ot York, Upper Canada, the building was abandoned. Destroyed in the War of 1812, it was re-built as a stone structure.
The current building is now a historic site ('Navy Hall National Historic Site) and often used for private functions. It is located across the street from Old Fort George.
