Naval Station Ingleside

'Naval Station Ingleside is a United States Navy base in Ingleside, Texas, on the northern shore of Corpus Christi Bay, 20 miles northeast of the city of Corpus Christi, about 150 miles south of San Antonio, and approximately 200 miles south of Houston. This region is known as the Coastal Bend. The Naval Station is ideally situated aside the Corpus Christi ship channel, which links the Port of Corpus Christi with the Gulf of Mexico.
NS Ingleside is one of three South Texas installations that comprise Naval Region South.
As of 2005, NS Ingleside is commanded by CAPT Timothy L. Watkins.
On August 24, 2005, the BRAC Committee voted to close NAS-Ingleside.
