[edit] Image copyright problem: Chinese language map

You have added a new Chinese language map. It bears a clear copyright notice. Have you secured copyright permission? (Or, are you the copyright owner?)

Thanks.

[edit] Tit-for-tat

I feel you are not acting like a mature Wikipedian because you supported the removal of FA status for India simply because an Indian Wikipedia user suggested the removal of FA status for the PRC.

Your exact quote was: "My vote of Removal is tit-for-tat to the aggressive approach of Nichalp against the PRC article." In addition, you also mentioned "The examples I gave above are trivial and can be easily fixed" thus implying that your entire claim for FA removal of India was trivial and thus not valid.

Ofcourse other users like Bob (GRCampbell) are not even willing to acknowledge that they are openly biased and delete comments on their discussion page (a sign of guilt from them perhaps). So I will commend you for not deleting this comment but please refrain from doing Tit-for-tat votes in the future.

[edit] Shanghai

You're making the lead section far too long.

Perhaps some of this new material could be better incorporated into the "History" section below? --Sumple (Talk) 23:42, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

I really strongly disagree with getting rid of the "ghetto" pics from the Shanghai article. To look at it objectively, most of the city does not look like Lujiazui or Huaihai lu (corner of Huangpi Nan lu?). Just because other city articles don't display the "ghetto" or other very representative parts of the city does not mean that the Shanghai article should hide what large swaths of the city actually look like --Easytoremember 02:37, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] On Shanghai's Infobox

We can discuss it. In fact, I have opened a discussion a few hours ago. The new style is not consistent with that of Beijing, Tianjin, and Chongqing. Shanghai's infobox must conform and be the same in style with the other 3 municipalities of China. The new style of infobox is completely different style: shaded box, different format in information etcetera. Look and compare first. I have done the comparison. Heilme 02:39, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

Beijing is consistent with Shanghai... The new style is more aesthetically pleasing, because the geographic location map background matches the table background. Also, the official English name of Shanghai is "Shanghai Municipality" not Hanyu Pinyin "Shanghai Shi." The old style's character abbreviations placed way at the top with bar underneath is also arbitrary. I am in process of updating Tianjin and Chongqing, that's why I have been reverting. Once Tianjin and Chongqing are done, then at least the 4 municipalities will be consistent. We can work on the provinces slowly. Naus 02:43, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
If you want to change all the styles, that's fine with me. But at least, we must start a Wikiproject first and brainstorm. This "new style" is really actually not new at all. The first person who "made" it (User: 218 something) directly copies it from Berlin's style. Heilme 02:55, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
It's better and more intuitive than the existing one though. The government separation is very helpful, otherwise people get really confused what it means for the city of Shanghai to have 220 towns. Naus 02:57, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
btw, do you have a better picture of Shanghai? The current one is slanted, foggy, difficult to see at a distance. I mean, it doesn't really give the best out of Shanghai. I don't have any pics. Heilme 03:05, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Shanghaitaxi.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Shanghaitaxi.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. feydey 11:10, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Creative Commons

Hi, please stop uploading images licensed under Creative Commons which can not be used commercially. There are several different CC licenses and only a few can be used by anybody for any purpose. Most of the photos you find at Flickr.com can only be used for non-commercial purposes. Wikimedia do not accept photos made available under that condition and uploading them is against Wikipedia policy. Such photos can be speedily deleted at sight by administrators. Since you often do not provide source information, other people must take their time to find photos that you have erroneously tagged with wrong information. Thuresson 01:37, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Stem Cell Controversy--China Policy section

I rewrote the sentence to say this: In the opinion of Fiona Murray and Debora Spar, China's distinctive attitude toward the embryo, combined with its lax regulatory system, could help its researchers leap the gap between laboratory science and medical application in stem cell therapy developments.[1] Also, the whole section drawn many, large scale oonclusions that are not presented in proper Wikipedian fashion. There need to be attribution the comments and statments. That is NOT clear. Also, the whole section is too long and it needs to be trimmed down. I am going to work on it.--Getaway 15:37, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Chineseflagphogel.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Chineseflagphogel.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:
