[edit] License tagging for Image:Brendasong2.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Brendasong2.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 15:01, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Uploading

If I upload an image, what licensing would a promo photo from a website be?

Are you sure it's a promo photo? Most photos on website are not, to be a promo photo it needs to explicitly state that it can freely be used elsewhere for promotional purposes. If it is a promo photo then we will only use it if there isn't an alternative completely free image available. --pgk 19:48, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
The normal tag is {{promophoto}}, include a link to the source of the photo so it can be verified later if need be. --pgk 19:54, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Copyright Images

HOw do you add a copyright tag to a image already loaded? Nationalboard 22:00, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

Just click on the image, which will bring you to the Image Description Page; there will be a button "edit this page" (like there is on every page); click on it, then add the copyright tag in the box that comes up. To find what code to enter to make a given copyright tag, look at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags. Hope this helps. JesseW, the juggling janitor 22:44, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
