Fair use rationale for Image:Nalbandian TMC.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Nalbandian TMC.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 17:28, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Nalbandian TMC.jpg

Hi, you left me a message a couple of days ago asking me to include a fair use rationale message to the image description page. I added the reason why it is being used in a wikipedia article. I didn't delete the possible copyright violation message on the page because I'm not really sure if what I added is enough. I wouldn't mind if you edited the page for me if something's missing. Additional instructions for the future would also be useful. Thanks. Nat91 (talk) 20:45 20 May 2006 (UTC)

Since Getty Images is directly involved in making money from the images, fair use is highly questionable. You can leave a comment at WP:CP (search for the image title) as to why you consider this to be fair use. Stifle (talk) 20:53, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

You're welcome. I left some notes in "Comments" below the rating in the talk page of the article. I see you already requested a peer-review. You can also request another in the Biography Wikiproject. Nat91 03:09, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
Nat91, had a look at the "Comments" page. Appreciate the feedback that you've given. I'll throw in a request for a Biography peer-review. Splashprince 04:49, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Would like to hear from the front lines

Hi Nat -- At peer review discussion, I posted a query about modifying the "peer review request." Since you are on the front lines of those doing the peer reviews and would benefit most from the request I posted, I think it important to have your opinion regarding this suggestion. If know any of the others doing the peer review, please ask them to give their opinion as well. Thanks. -- Jreferee 23:48, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Macaulayculkin2.jpg

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Macaulayculkin2.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Thank you. Yamla 19:59, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

A fair use rationale was provided to the image. I apologise for the inconvinience. Nat91 01:24, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Image:Macaulayculkin2.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Macaulayculkin2.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 19:59, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

You said: "I replied in my user talk page, but just in case, I wanted to let you know that a fair use rationale was added to the image. I apologise for the inconvinience."

I'm sorry to say that this is insufficient. Please see WP:FUC. No fair-use rationale is sufficient for this image, at least not in its use to depict the living person, Macaulay Culkin. --Yamla 03:04, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
You said: "I still don't understand. The screencapture would be alright to depict the film but not the person in question?"
It would be appropriate to use the screen capture to provide critical commentary on the film (in an article about the film, or in a section in the Culkin article specifically talking about the film), yes. However, we are not permitted to use non-free images to depict living people. --Yamla 03:23, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
I see. Thanks for the explanation. Nat91 03:38, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
