[edit] Justification for a Natick Mall page
Several pages about shopping malls have been deleted as being non-notable. I would argue that the Natick Mall is notable for a number of reasons. First, it was the first indoor shopping mall in the Boston area, and one of the first in the country -- it was developed at a time before indoor shopping malls were popular. Second, with the current expansion project, the mall will be one of the largest malls in the country (12th according to one website). Additionally, the mall complex will include two "luxury" condominium towers, which is a significant innovation for a suburban shopping center. The idea is that "empty nesters" and certain other demographics will enjoy "living at the mall", with the ability to be very close to shopping, dining, and other amenities without having to drive to them. This concept comes close to Victor Gruen's original concept of the Southdale Center, the first enclosed shopping mall in the country. I hope some of the points in this discussion can be worked into the main article page. --Johnm4 23:23, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
