National Sports Report
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The National Sports Report was a sports program started by Fox Sports to help the network compete with ESPN's SportsCenter.
In 1996 FSN created a 2 hour program, The National Sports Report. However, when costs began to increase and ratings decreased, the network cut the show down to 1 hour, and then a half hour.
In 2000 FSN began airing the Regional Sports Report (ex: Detroit Sports Report, Pittsburgh Sports Report, Midwest Sports Report), to help increase ratings. It did not seem to help as much as FSN would have liked as the last edition of the National Sports Report aired in February 2002. While in some markets, FSN airs the Regional Sports Report, were cut in 2002 due to increasing costs.
