National Society of Collegiate Scholars

The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) is a United States academic honor society for college students. The stated mission of NSCS is to "honor and inspire academic excellence and enganged citizenship for a lifetime." Invitations for membership are extended to first-and second-year college students who rank in the top fifth of their class and have a minimum GPA of 3.4.
NSCS also partners with many organizations to provide members with job opportunities. Employer partners include Deloitte & Touche, Microsoft Corporation, Bank of America, Ernst & Young, Geico, New York Life, Accenture, Washington Mutual, Corporate Executive Board, Teach for America, Eaton Corporation, Peace Corps and Quicken Loans.
NSCS was founded in 1994 at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. by Steve Loflin. NSCS has active chapters at 226 colleges and universities nationwide, in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. All chapters are involved in service to their campus and local communitites, as well as scholastic and social activities. There are currently over 450,000 lifetime members across the country.
