The National Hockey Stadium is a sports stadium in Milton Keynes, England, with a capacity of around 9,000 seats.

[edit] Football

It is currently the home of Milton Keynes Dons football club (formerly Wimbledon F.C.). The club moved in during 2003, converted the synthetic pitch to grass and added additional stands and seating. The club's owners are currently building a new Denbigh Stadium at Denbigh North, near Bletchley and are due to move there in mid-2007.

[edit] Hockey

The stadium was built in 1995 as a new national field hockey stadium, with a synthetic pitch. As part of the tenancy arrangement with MK Dons, a grass pitch has been laid, meaning that the stadium is out of commission for hockey for the time being. Internationals and playoffs are thus being held at various leading club grounds around the country. England Hockey maintains its headquarters at the stadium. England Hockey is considering the future of the stadium after the Dons leave, because it does not appear to have achieved the level of use (and economic viability) that they had envisaged. This situation is not helped by the building of another hockey facility in Stratford, London, as part of the 2012 Olympics facilities.
