National Geographic Channel is a Canadian category 2 digital cable television channel that is owned by Alliance Atlantis Communications and National Geographic Channel (U.S.). It features documentary and human interest programming that explores the natural world around us. The service is based on the world famous National Geographic Magazine.
Programming includes specials and theme weeks such as 'Pharaoh's Week' and 'Shark Week'. The programs broadcast revolve around the following topics: geography, popular science, world history, current events and photography.
An HD simulcast of National Geographic Channel will launch on December 19, 2006.
