The National Bank of Detroit (NBD) was a bank that operated mostly in the Midwestern United States. It was co-founded by Ben Young, the brother of famed fly rod builder Paul H. Young; Ben was President and Vice President of the bank in the 1930's -1940's.It had a strong presence in Michigan. NBD merged with First Chicago in the mid-1990s; the combined bank was called First Chicago NBD. Branches in some states (eg Michigan) retained the NBD name, while branches in others (eg Illinois) changed to First Chicago.

First Chicago NBD later merged with Bank One which eliminated the NBD name. Bank One was itself purchased by JPMorgan Chase & Co. As of March 2006, all former NBD branches carry the Chase name.

The National Bank of Detroit (NBD) had overseas branches in England (London - Finsbury Circus) and Japan (Tokyo) and was a "Boutique Bank" as well as a wholesale bank. The Foreign Exchange section used the Online Dealer Information System (ODIN).

It used to reside in the formerly-named National Bank of Detroit Building (Now Chase Tower).
