[edit] 2005

Debuting with the Adelaide Crows in 2005 season as just an 18-year-old, van Berlo has become Adelaide's second best tackler (after Martin Mattner). He came to the Crows at the end of the 2004 season, with a very light body but a great fitness level. He played just 11 games in his first season, averaging just over 7 disposals a game. His career high possession tally is 17.

[edit] 2006

Van Berlo had played every game until Round 11 when he broke his collarbone in a tackle. A steel rod was implanted through the centre of the bone to hold it together. He resumed playing in Round 17 after missing six weeks. Van Berlo played in 17 regular season matches and two finals matches to bring his career total to 30 AFL games.

[edit] Internet phenomenon

Van Berlo is part of a Chuck Norris-type phenomenon among Internet forums such as Hacksawed & BigFooty, where he is referred to as a God-like individual.[1]
