Nathan Winthrop
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nathan Winthrop was a proposed name of a fictional character on the NBC daytime drama Passions.
Gwen and Ethan planned to name "their" child Nathan Winthrop. However, the fetus was aborted for medical reasons by Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald on November 8, 2004. This was to save the life of his twin sister, Jane, who was deemed to have a better chance of survival; the womb of his mother, Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald, was too small to support two fetuses. Only seen in hallucinations experienced by Gwen Hotchkiss Winthrop, when she imagined herself as the matriarch of a family that also included daughters Ashley (the baby that Theresa named Jane) and Sarah (who had been stillborn), the baby was never actually given a legal name nor was there a memorial service or funeral because it was considered a 'medical abortion' of a fetus that was not viable outside the womb.
This character never existed on-screen, as it was a proposed name only.
