Nathan Stark is a character on the American science fiction drama Eureka. He is played by Ed Quinn.
[edit] Description
Nathan is a Nobel-prize winning mathematician, Eureka's head researcher and Allison Blake's estranged husband. Nathan has a very covert personality, and runs the Eureka installation with an occasionally tough command structure. He also commands the installation's tactical units, which are called in to contain various mishaps or problems. Keenly brilliant and rather charming, he and Jack Carter quickly end up at odds. Nathan's desires to push the boundaries of science eventually compromise his personal integrity. Stark is still in love with Allison, and as such has not yet granted her a divorce. He is Allison's second husband. In "H.O.U.S.E. Rules," it was revealed Nathan was at some point Henry Deacon's student.
Some fans have remarked on the resemblance to the Marvel Comics' character Anthony "Tony" Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man. Both have similar job descriptions, as well as share a last name. In "Once in a Lifetime", Nathan Stark is shown to have left Eureka at some point and running a company called Stark Industries, which is also the name of the comic book character's corporation.
[edit] Trivia
- While he is described as a "Nobel-prize winning mathematician", there is no Nobel Prize in mathematics. In "Dr. Nobel", freeze-framing reveals that he won the Physics prize.
- Despite being forced to give his Nobel Prize to Dr. Thatcher in order to help snap the old man's mind back into place ("Dr. Nobel"), Stark seems to have re-obtained it, as it is once again seen hanging from his wall later in the series ("Right as Raynes"). However, this may be one of the minor inconsistencies present in the series due to it being shown out of order.
