[edit] Career

N8 started traveling the independent circuit in early 1997 and began his career with the NWA Michigan promotion, as well as Cleveland All-Pro Wrestling in Ohio. By the late '90s Mattson was one of the top cruiserweights in the Great Lakes area, taking on all comers such as Jimi V, veteran Tommy Rogers, and then-NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion Logan Caine.

In 2000, N8 was invited to the NWA 52nd Anniversary show in Nashville, TN where he would go on to win his second NWA Great Lakes Jr. Heavyweight title from Ricco Rodriguez. A few months later Mattson would go on to successfully defend that title against Marty Jannetty. Also during that same year, N8 took a young Chris Sabin under his wing and began training him for the squared circle.

By 2001 N8 had suffered a few major injuries, most notably a separated shoulder and a broken ankle. After his recovery, the NWA Michigan was no more, so N8 went to work for the Independent Wrestling Revolution (IWR) in Detroit. Mattson turned heel and joined The Threat, along with Breyer Wellington, Truth Martini, and Anthony Rivera. Also on the Michigan indy scene, N8 & Gutter defeated the team of Simon Diamond and Johnny Swinger when Mattson scored the pinfall on Simon.

Throughout 2002-2003 Mattson turned up in several different promotions across the United States and Canada, now feuding with his former student Sabin. Mattson lost his IWR King of the Independents Championship to AJ Styles, but won the belt back when the match was restarted.

Mattson then made his debut on TNA Xplosion, facing Sabin for the X-Division Championship. N8 and Sabin reconciled and took on the Road Warriors Hawk & Animal for the Power Wrestling Alliance, Ted DiBiase's promotion. N8 & Breyer Wellington returned to TNA, this time taking on CM Punk & Julio Dinero. Mattson also debuted in Ohio Valley Wrestling in 2003, defeating Mac Daddy Johnson.

In 2004, N8 again resurfaced in TNA, this time losing to Michael Shane (Matt Bentley). On the indy circuit, N8 worked with several top stars including Sabu, Shark Boy, Chris Hamrick, and Colt Cabana. At this point Mattson was feuding with Conrad Kennedy III in IWR, successfully defending the Heavyweight title at the Vans Warped Tour outside the Pontiac Silver Dome. N8 was working steadily for the Philly-based 3PW until the company closed down.

In 2005 N8 lost the IWR title after 22 months to CK3 in a 30-minute Iron Man match inside a steel cage. N8 started feuding with Team Canada (Petey Williams & Bobby Roode) in BCW with multiple partners (Truth Martini, Eddie Venom, and Danny Daniels). After a short feud with Zach Gowen, Mattson then began working for the American Wrestling Association (AWA) where he made it to the semi-finals of the AWA Light-Heavyweight tournament in North Carolina, losing to Shannon Moore.

2005 saw the formation of the Michigan Invasion (MII), co-founded by N8 Mattson, Truth Martini, and Eddie Venom in Wrestling And Respect (WAR). The MII also became a dominant force in All American Wrestling (AAW) in Illinois, with Mattson & Martini working as the Motor City Wrecking Crew.

N8 feuded with Jimmy Jacobs over the XICW Midwest Heavyweight title for several months in 2006. After defeating Jacobs for the belt, "The Amazing One" successfully defended the title against Zach Gowen and Brother Runt (Spike Dudley).

Mattson also teamed up with Steve Corino's student Ricky Landell in the AWA, and made it to the finals of the AWA Tag Team tournament. N8 recently started working for Pro Wrestling World-1 and has formed an alliance with Corino & Landell.

Recently, N8 has taken on all-comers. At IWR's Revolucha 3 on May 6, 2006, N8 Mattson defeated Jimmy Jacobs for the King of the Independents championship, and later teamed with CK3 vs. Sabu and Lucha Libre legend Mil Mascaras.

Patching up there differences for one night, N8 & Jimmy Jacobs pulled out a win over Josh Abercrombie & UFC hall of famer Dan "The Beast" Severn when N8 pinned Abercrombie, which lead to a singles match between N8 and "The Beast". Severn defeated Mattson with a Dragon Sleeper the following month.

On July 15, 2006 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, Amazing N8 defeated former TNA X-Division Champion Petey Williams for the BCW Television title. Mattson scored the victory using the M-80 swinging neckbomb.

On July 22, 2006, Amazing N8 beat "Classic" Colt Cabana for the AWA/World-1 Great Lakes Openweight title with the M-80 at a show in Bay City, MI. N8 successfully defended the World-1 Openweight belt by defeating TNA's Shark Boy in his first defense.

On October 29, 2006 Border City Wrestling TV Champion N8 Mattson defeated one of Ontario's finest, "Danger Boy" Derek Wylde in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

On December 2, 2006 Amazing N8 defeated Nigel McGuinness on a WAR card in Lima, OH with the M-80 after a little help from the Michigan Invasion.

In 6-Man Tag Team action for Cleveland All-Pro Wrestling, "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels, Zach Gowen, & M-dogg 20 defeated "Amazing" N8 Mattson, Josh Prohibition, & Johnny Gargano when Zach pinned Johnny with a Moonsault.
