[edit] How to use this template

To insert a link to NASDAQ's information page about a company, type the following, replacing XXXX with the company's stock symbol:

{{nasdaq|XXXX}}

This is best used at the beginning of an article:

'''Google Inc.''' ( {{nasdaq|GOOG}} ) is a...
becomes
Google Inc. ( NASDAQ: GOOG ) is a...

To create a simple link to NASDAQ's site, you can use the template Ndaq. {{ndaq|GOOG}} produces NASDAQ: GOOG.

[edit] Space

I don't know about that space after the colon. It looks better without it, just like "p.l.c." isn't "p. l. c.", "A.G." isn't "A. G.", and S.A. isn't "S. A.". - Jerryseinfeld 03:34, 24 Dec 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Category

This template shouldn't automatically categorize pages under Category:Companies traded on NASDAQ. Doing so assumes that the template will only be included by pages about NASDAQ-traded companies, which is not the case (e.g. Charles Ergen, Hedge fund, and Babylon (program) all use this template and are miscategorized as a result). I've removed the auto-categorization for this reason. --David Iberri | Talk 18:53, May 17, 2005 (UTC)

That is a problem, but unfortunately your change has caused a far worse problem: Category:Companies traded on NASDAQ is now virtually empty. If you still see companies there, it's due to caching, they'll be dropped at some point. We need a bot to go through every page which uses this template and add the category. Actually I take it back. Please use Template:ndaq for the few special cases where you don't want the category added. I'm reverting this change since it creates a large amount of work repopulating the category. Rhobite 20:25, May 17, 2005 (UTC)
Whoops. I hadn't noticed Template:ndaq before. Thanks for reverting my change. --David Iberri | Talk 18:31, May 20, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Should template:nyse be used on NASDAQ-listed stocks?

There is a disagreement over whether Template:Nyse should be used on NASDAQ-listed stocks. Please see Template talk:Infobox Company. Rhobite 00:12, Apr 3, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Parentheses

I suggest that we do not include parentheses here, in order to better combine with similar templates. For example: (NASDAQ: MLEA, TYO: 8766) Shawnc 15:44, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Bold should not be used

See Template talk:Nyse#Reason for bold?. -- Centrx 18:20, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
