I completely disagree with this statement. The Purple Frog is an extremely rare frog, which was only discovered in 2003. Looking up images on the net, there are only two photos: this one and another of lower quality. I usually completely disagree with using fair use images, but this is such a unique frog. There is almost zero chance of a GFDL photo of this frog becoming available for Wikipedia in a very long time. --liquidGhoul 09:24, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
For what it's worth, my opinion is that the reason exposed above by liquidGhoul is good enough for keeping this image as Fair Use for the time being. However a rationale may be needed in the description page just to avoid future confusion. -- Rune Welsh | ταλκ 10:26, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
Just because it's hard to find pictures doesn't mean it's okay to violate copyright. Have you tried contacting the photographer for either picture and asking if they'll release the image under a free license? --Carnildo 17:08, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] What?

What is going on here? It would be useful if someone would actually explain, or if the tags explained, what is going on. Firstly, you want rationale, I give it, and it is completely ignored and the image is removed from the articles. I thought that it was deleted, but apparently not, and now it is going to be deleted because it is not used in any articles. If that is a problem, I can easily replace them, but someone needs to do more than just throw tags everywhere, and expect people who are not involved in the process to understand what the hell is going on. What is needed to keep this image under fair use? --liquidGhoul 14:22, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

I agree for this case. It's similar to publicity photos of celebrities since although free images could theoretically be created if one were to journey to India and spend time during monsoon season to photograph the animal, realistically that's just not gonna happen. If there's one in captivity on display in a zoo somewhere, though, that would be different. I'm restoring the images to the articles. howcheng {chat} 16:24, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
