Napalm Beach

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Napalm Beach was one of the longest running punk bands from Portland, Oregon in the USA and are credited as being the godfathers of grunge long before Nirvana. At the core of the group was Chris Newman on guitar, and Sam Henry on drums, and an ever-rotating cast of bass players over their 24 year run together. Chris had several side projects like Snow Bud and the Flower People, and the Divining Rods. Kurt Cobain is said to have been greatly influenced by them and another legendary Portland band the Wipers; their music featured on the documentary Kurt & Courtney. Sam Henry was the original drummer for the Wipers before joining Napalm Beach in 1981.

They are not to be confused with the grindcore band, Napalm Death.
