Naomi Kawase

Kawase Naomi (河瀬直美) (born May 30, 1969 in Nara, Japan) is a Japanese film director. Many of her works have been documentaries, including Embracing, about her search for the father her abandoned her as a child, and Katatsumori, about the grandmother her raised her.
Graduated from the Osaka School of Photography (then the School of Visual Arts) in 1989, spent an additional four years there as a lecturer before releasing Embracing. Novelized her film Moe no suzaku and is currently novelizing Firefly.
