Wikipedia:Naming conventions (adjectives)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The naming conventions for adjectives is a naming convention for how to create Wikipedia pages about adjectives.
[edit] Adjectives
Main article: Adjective
An adjective is a part of speech which can be thought of as a describing word; that is, a word which modifies a noun, usually making its meaning more specific.
Adjectives denote a quality, property, or attribute of a certain noun, indicate a quantity or extent of the noun, or specify the noun as distinct from another noun.
Many adjectives are formed from participles; as in "I saw a talking horse", "It was the done thing" and "She sold the crashed car at a loss".
[edit] Policy
It is recommended that adjectives be redirected to nouns.
Where adjectives do not have a clear noun form, they may become disambiguation pages.
[edit] Examples
At the current time, elegant redirects to elegance, democratic redirects to democracy, and adjectival redirects to adjective.
Organic is a disambiguation page which includes redirects to organism, organic food, and organic chemistry.
