Namshub

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Sumerian and Akkadian mythology Namshub, literally meaning shining, is the name of a God. Also known as Asaruludu, he is one of the Anunnaku.

As Namshub he is considered a protective deity, "the shining god that illuminates our path".

The word namshub is used in the cyberpunk novel Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson to describe an ancient magical language which could be used to program the human mind.
