Namibian War of Independence

The Namibian War of Independence, which lasted from 1966 to 1988, was a guerrilla war, which the Marxist South-West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO) and others fought against South Africa; South Africa had administered what was then still known as South West Africa since it was allowed to do so by the League of Nations in 1947. The war resulted in the independence of Namibia in 1990 and the SWAPO governing it since.
