Namegata District, Ibaraki

Namegata (行方郡; -gun) is a district located in Ibaraki, Japan.

As of 2003, the district has an estimated population of 40,930 and a density of 246.08 persons per km². The total area is 166.33 km².

Namegata is the current home of international superstar and Canadian English teacher extraordinaire, Eric.

The District was dissolved on September 2, 2005 when all three municipalities merged to form the new city of Namegata, effectively turning the district into a city.
