Najib Amhali

Najib Amhali, (April 4, 1971, Nandor, Morocco) is a Dutch stand-up comedian and actor.

'Als Marokkaan kom ik graag bij de mensen thuis.' (As a moroccan I like to visit people at their places). This is how Najib Amhali starts the cabaret festival in Leiden (Netherlands), where he's the winner of both prices, the public and the jury price. Amhali becomes very populair because his Dutch is flawless and he's able to show the Dutch, how the life of an immigrant in the Netherlands can be. His audience consist of native Dutch people but also many immigrants; Amhali holds them a mirror in front of their faces and shows them that both groups can exhibit a rather awkward kind of behaviour.

Amhali made some cabaret shows himself, like: Freefight, Veni Vidi Vici, Vol is Vol (full is full) and Most Wanted.

Najib is also an actor and he played in several Dutch productions. In 1999 he played with Hans Teeuwen and Kim van kooten in the movie, Jezus is een Palestijn (Jesus is a Palestinian). In 2002 he's playing in the series Najib en Julia (Najib and Juliet) which was directed by filmmaker Theo van Gogh. In 2004 he played in the film Shouf Shouf Habibi!

In may 2006 Amhali had a show about the World Championship Football where he's discussing all aspects of the Dutch team and he collected money for charity.
