Nagarakretagama

Nagarakretagama (Nāgarakṛtâgama), Kakawin Nagarakretagama (Epic poem Nagarakretagama), or Negarakertagama is most known old javanese epic poem, so this is the most researched Old Javanese epic poem.
[edit] Meaning of The Title
Title of this epic poem, Nagarakretagama is "Country/state with sacred tradition (religion)." The author also call this Deśawarṇana which mean "writing about teritorries".

The author of this epic is mpu Prapanca at 365 [[AD] (1287 Saka Year). When he wrote these epic he was not yet called mpu. Some call his real name was Pancaksara (Panca=five aksara=letter, see akshara). His father name is mpu Narendra which held Dharmadyaksa ring Kasogatan or Leader/Minister of Buddhism affair position.

This epic poem told about situation in Majapahit Kraton in Hayam Wuruk reign, great King in Java and also Nusantara. He reign in 1350 until 1389 AD, at the height of Majapahit, largest kingdom ever in Nusantara.
Most of text tell King's journey to Blambangan and Singosari. The death of Gajah Mada also written. Another part of text is about Majapahit's territory and their tribute as well. Interpretation of this partis remain controversial.
Another interesting thing is that Sunda and Madura not told as part of Majapahit but his text tell vast region of Sumatra, Brunei, and even Papua (in the text called Wwanin
