From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nagano Shinkansen (長野新幹線) is the name for the segment of the Hokuriku Shinkansen that currently exists (as of 2005). It was constructed between Takasaki and Nagano in 1997. Its original purpose was to serve Nagano for the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics. The Nagano shinkansen is currently under construction as far Kanazawa and has tentative planes all the way to Osaka under the name of the Hokuriku Shinkansen. For more information please see the Hokuriku Shinkansen page for information on the line itself as well as rolling stock and other information (this is in order to prevent duplicate information).
