Nadia (name)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nadia originates from the language of Arabic--from the Holy Qur'an. It is an Arabic word but used as a name first used in Arabic and then in European cultures. The meaning of this word in Arabic is "the caller" or "the announcer" or "the first dawn on a flower." In Europe (Slavic), it can stand for "hope," being a diminutive of the Russian name Надежда (Nadyezhda) with that meaning; "Nadine" is a French form of this diminutive. The name of Lenin's wife was also Nadia.
